Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Health Membership?
Hyer Health’s Premier Membership uses a direct primary care model. This model cuts out the insurance middleman, allowing practices to operate on a smaller patient base. Our providers can focus on giving our patients the time, accessibility, and personalized care they deserve. Having a low monthly membership model means there are never any copays, deductibles, or surprise hidden charges.
How can a health membership help me save money?
Health memberships can be a cost-effective alternative to traditional healthcare, especially for those who need regular care. As a specialty clinic, we prioritize frequent follow-ups to monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed. Our membership model helps patients save by reducing copays, avoiding costly urgent care or ER visits, and offering discounted labs, imaging, and medications—often at prices lower than insurance rates. With direct provider access and telehealth options, patients can conveniently manage their health without unnecessary office visits or time away from work.
How Is Direct Primary Care Different from Concierge Care?
While both models offer direct provider access and extended visit times, concierge care typically charges a premium membership fee in addition to billing insurance for services, which may still require copays. Concierge practices also follow insurance-mandated guidelines for reimbursement. In contrast, Direct Primary Care operates on a simple membership model that covers services without additional billing or third-party restrictions. This allows providers to focus entirely on personalized, patient-centered care.
Do you take insurance?
No, we do not bill insurance or Medicare. Our monthly membership is a direct agreement between our practice and each patient. However, if you have insurance, you have the option to have follow up labs drawn at an outside facility for them to bill your insurance.
I Have Insurance. Why Should I Join?
Good insurance doesn’t always mean good healthcare. Traditional insurance-based visits are often rushed, limited to one issue at a time, and focused more on paperwork than patient care.
At our clinic, you’ll receive personalized, high-quality care with longer appointment times, same or next-day urgent visits, and direct access to your provider. Our focus is on your health, not insurance restrictions.
Does your membership also include Weight Loss and Hormone Replacement?
Yes, your membership includes medical weight loss and hormone replacement management. However, the medications prescribed are not included. Our members have the option to use a pharmacy of their choosing or take advantage of extra savings through our partnered pharmacies.
Is Direct Primary Care health insurance?
No. While many patients use DPC membership to cover services in place of traditional insurance, DPC is not considered health insurance.
Should I still have health insurance?
We still recommend that all patients have at least a high-deductible health plan or a health share plan to cover events such as hospitalization, major surgery, or extensive specialist treatment.
Can I still use my insurance if I join your membership?
You can still use your insurance for services like labs, imaging, medications, specialist visits, hospitalizations, and surgeries. However, our rates are often lower than insurance copays. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your coverage details.
